This national award winning artist has the unique ability to paint in all mediums. Awards in oil, pastel, watercolor and acrylic show her many talents. Currently her work is appearing on the international website www.paintingsdirect.com and has been recently highlighted at a one-person show at the Artist Guild Gallery in Vero Beach, Florida.
Artist McCarthy was a national judge and has juried both the Boston Copley Society and the Academic Artists, and is considered a Master Colorist. She has received most of her instruction from the American Watercolor Society and the Pastel Society. J. Frances shares her passion for art through painting and teaching.
Her works can be found in many collections including Merrill Lynch, Dean Whitter, Monarch Life, Dennison Corp., General Electric, IBM, and in private collections around the world. Her work has also appeared in the Berkshire Museum, Fine Arts Museum of Springfield, Massachusetts, Connecticut Valley Historical Museum, and the Brooklyn Museum among others. Currently her work is being displayed in the Prince Albert Museum in London, England.
Three of her “still life” paintings have been selected to appear in an art instruction book, soon to be published. She has appeared on television in an art format including pastel portraiture. Artist McCarthy has also maintained an art gallery in Rockport, Massachusetts and was reviewed in the Women’s Magazine for the different aspects of her techniques. She has given numerous lectures to women’s organizations demonstrating a variety of techniques used in the creation of art.
